Sika International Limited Globally licenses investors to produce the elements of the ‘Sika Solution’, commissioning the standalone turnkey aluminium casting foundries, and providing technical and training support. Company Innovations Sika Technology’s first innovation was to break with centuries-old traditions in the foundry industry by applying ‘systems engineering’ principles to metal casting. The second innovation, based on the first, was to develop lightweight aluminium security access covers for telecommunication network junction chambers. The significance of this innovative product lies in the following facts. The covers could be twice the size of cast iron type they were replacing, and yet weigh 70% less, incorporate security latching systems, and comply with Australasian and British loading standards - a world first for cast aluminium. The third innovation grew from the second. Having mastered the processes and tooling for large die cast covers, Sika Technology then set about creating a faster, safer, and cheaper solution for the jointing chambers their covers where being made for, giving rise to the ‘Sika Solution’ – kitset cast aluminium jointing chambers and security access covers.
